Our parcel of Bourgogne Rouge lies at the foot of a slope in the Meursault commune. This area is called “les Coutures” and borders the Meursault Limozin appellation. The soil here is clay limestone mix with a subsoil of gravel and the whole parcel is grassed. Because the vine roots must now fight for moisture this encourages a natural defence against disease and concentrates the sugars and tannins.
On the nose there are the typical red fruit aromas of Pinot Noir.
It is a perfect companion for red meats and cheese.
It should be drunk within 2 to 5 years after bottling.
Wine should be a sophisticated drink, rich but always refreshing.
